Role Overview
The Paralegal/Senior Legal Assistant will play a vital role in providing comprehensive legal support under the supervision of the Legal Counsel (West). This position focuses on labor relations, employment standards legislation, collective bargaining agreements, and union grievances, requiring strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
The ideal candidate will engage in a variety of tasks that support the union's legal operations and advocacy initiatives, making this role essential to our mission.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a dedicated professional with the following qualifications:
- Education: Graduated from an accredited Paralegal or Legal Assistant Program.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a paralegal or legal assistant role with a focus on labor and employment law.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of labor relations acts, employment standards legislation, and collective bargaining agreements.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in legal research databases and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines efficiently.
- Attention to Detail: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Professionalism: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team while maintaining discretion.
- Travel: Occasional travel may be required.
