Position Overview:

We are seeking skilled Mechanical Insulators to support shipyard and marine construction projects involving naval and military ships. Successful candidates will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining insulation systems on a wide range of mechanical equipment, piping, and vessel structures while ensuring compliance with strict military and shipbuilding standards.

Wages & Hours:

Wage: $27.44 – $42.22 per hour (based on experience and apprenticeship level)

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Level 3 Apprentice or higher
  • Valid CSTS ticket required
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Insulator, preferably in marine, shipyard, or industrial environments
  • Familiarity with naval or military specifications considered an asset
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge of insulation materials, installation techniques, and safety procedures
  • Experience working in confined spaces, at heights, and in physically demanding conditions
  • Valid trade certification or apprenticeship preferred
  • Ability to pass security clearance/background check

Responsibilities:

  • Install, remove, and repair insulation on piping systems, ductwork, bulkheads, and machinery aboard naval vessels
  • Measure, cut, fit, and secure insulation materials including fiberglass, mineral wool, foam, and metal cladding
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings
  • Apply lagging, vapor barriers, and protective coverings as required
  • Work with sheet metal components including fabrication and fitting of aluminum or stainless-steel jackets
  • Ensure all work meets military specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations
  • Perform inspections and maintenance of existing insulation systems
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Collaborate with other trades including welders, pipefitters, and electricians within a marine construction setting
